You got to see to believe it.

8.30 AM

Today we travel a little bit further to the other side of Bangkok. After breakfast, we took a Grab to Hua Lamphong Train Station. We choose an Ordinary class train as it is more authentic. It's cost approximately MYR24 per person. Train depart at 9.25 am and ETA at Ayutthaya in 1 hour 30 minutes. My tips - If you have extra cash, pay for a better train class as it is so hot!

11.25 A.M

As we arrived at the Ayutthaya station, there' s a lot of Tuk Tuk driver waiting for the passenger and selling tour package. Not recommended as it is quite expensive and as a backpacker, we prefer to just roll on our own and plus there is plenty of Scooters or bicycle to rent. As its almost afternoon, we decided to have brunch at a nearby shop (walk straight for about 10 minutes from the station) and coincidently they rent out a scooter too - around RM 20 per day (THB 150). Very cheap!

Exploring Ayutthaya cannot be done by foot especially under hot weather and there are tons of beautiful ancient temples to be visited, some of it next to each other and some of it located quite far. So, rent a scooter or bicycle highly recommended.

As there are too many temples & sites to be visited within a short amount of time, we selected that have distinctive and uniques architecture and also by recommendation by shops owners (she provide us with a Map).

Highly recommended - Wat Phra Si Sanphet (Three Pagodas), Wat Mahathat - (Buddha Head inside the tree), Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Lokayasutharam (The Reclining Buddha), Wat Panan Choeng (Golden Buddha).

Tips - If you travel like us towards the end of the monsoon - bring your disposable raincoat and put a lot of sunblocks - it will rain and hot at the same time.

5.00 PM

After finishing our tour and return our scooter -the full tank is a must, we have little tea time while waiting for our train to depart at 6.30 pm. (We bought the return ticket as soon as we arrived at the station). I love to train ride at night time - cold and just blank.

8.00 PM

Finally, we arrive at Hua Lamphong Train Station and we just took Grab back to our hotel as we too tired to use BTS. We finish the night with dinner at a local restaurant and night shopping -).

Overall, Ayutthaya is a must visit place while you visiting Bangkok. Amazing architecture, nice town and people too. Learn a lot from the trip!
